Punta Prima
Punta Prima is 120 metres long and 30 metres wide, and stretches along the far eastern coast of the island. Punta Prima is one of the most visited beaches in the area. Its fine white sands achieved the name of «sandy bay» during the British occupation. We can still observe fishermen’s refuges, where they stored their fishing apparatus, along the shore. Punta Prima is an ideal beach for children, as its waters are quite shallow. The beach is fairly well protected from the wave currents thanks to the location of the Aire Island in front.
At the east there is a path, which leads to Cala d’Alcalfar and follows the historical «Camí de Cavalls» (Horse way) which goes around the island.
In order to reach Punta Prima, we must get to Sant Lluis. After crossing the town we will find a roundabout called Sa Pau, where we will find the indications leading to the south coast beaches.
